What makes a company more than just another place to work? For starters, it must have a clear purpose that underlies why it was founded and why it exists today. For us, this means staying true to the ideals established by Peter Callanan in 1883: to make people’s lives better.

Since it was established in 1883, Callanan has continued to see successes and growth through acquisitions of several companies, including:
1929
Acquires Albany Crushed Stone
1937
Opened new quarry in Kingston
1940-1950
Grows to include 3 crushed stone & 5 blacktop plants
1960
Penn Dixie Cement acquires company from Callanan family; name changes to Callanan Industries, Inc.
1970-1984
Callanan acquired by partnership led by AJ “Doc” Marcelle
1985
Callanan acquired by CRH of Dublin, Ireland through its subsidiary Oldcastle, Inc.
1986
Acquires King Road Materials
1993
Acquires Clemente Latham Concrete
1994
Acquires Sullivan Materials
1995
Acquires Fane Concrete & Fane Asphalt
